Group & Corporate Travel Insurance
Protect Every Employee Who Travels For Work
When your people travel abroad for sales, projects or training, a medical emergency or lost passport becomes the company’s problem too. Group and corporate travel insurance covers all employees travelling on business under one master policy, with medical, evacuation and travel-disruption protection. MILES Insurance Brokers helps HR, finance and admin teams design the cover, compare insurers, set up a simple declaration process and support employees quickly when a claim arises overseas.

Duty Of Care Support

What is group and corporate travel insurance?
Group and corporate travel insurance is a single policy bought by a company to cover its employees while they travel abroad on business. It pays for emergency medical treatment, evacuation and travel problems such as lost passports and delayed flights, without the company buying a separate policy for every trip.
The same structure also works for organised groups travelling together — a dealer incentive trip, a delegation to a trade fair or a student tour — where one policy covers everyone on the same itinerary. It is part of our travel insurance range and fits alongside the employee benefits many companies already provide.
How corporate travel policies are structured
| Structure | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Annual corporate policy | Premium based on estimated travel days or trips; adjusted on declarations | Companies with regular business travel |
| Named-employee annual cover | Selected frequent travellers each get an annual multi-trip plan | Small teams where a few people travel often |
| Group trip policy | One policy for a defined group, itinerary and dates | Incentive tours, delegations, conferences |
For a small business with only one or two frequent travellers, individual annual multi-trip policies may be simpler. Larger companies usually benefit from a single corporate policy with periodic declarations.
What it covers
- Medical expenses and hospitalisation abroad, including emergency dental treatment within limits.
- Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation, and repatriation of mortal remains.
- Accidental death and permanent disability while travelling.
- Loss of passport, trip delay, trip interruption and missed connections.
- Checked-in baggage loss and delay, and, where chosen, cover for business equipment.
- Personal liability for injury or damage to third parties.
- Optional sections such as hijack allowance, business-related trip curtailment or replacement employee travel costs, depending on the insurer.
What is not covered
Travel within India is usually excluded unless specifically added. Pre-existing conditions may be excluded or limited. Manual or hazardous work, such as site erection or offshore work, often needs specific disclosure and may be priced differently. Travel to countries under government advisories against travel, war and terrorism beyond any cover given, and losses from unattended belongings are common exclusions. Long overseas postings or expatriate assignments usually need a different product, and we will tell you where that applies.
Who needs it
- Exporters and manufacturers whose teams visit buyers, suppliers and trade fairs.
- IT and consulting firms sending staff to client sites for short assignments.
- Engineering and project companies with technicians travelling for commissioning work.
- Companies running incentive trips for employees, dealers or distributors.
How the premium is decided
Insurers look at the number of trips or travel days per year, the regions visited (especially the US and Canada), the age profile of travellers, the nature of work abroad, the medical sum insured and deductibles, and past claims experience. A clean, well-organised declaration process usually helps at renewal.
How MILES helps
- We review your travel data and recommend the right structure: corporate annual, named-employee or group trip.
- We compare insurers on assistance network quality, sub-limits and exclusions for business activities.
- We set up a simple declaration and certificate process for HR or the travel desk, including embassy letters for Schengen visas, where cover must meet the minimum medical limit set by the Schengen rules.
- We coordinate with the assistance company during an emergency and manage claims end to end.
Travel cover works best alongside your group health insurance and group personal accident insurance, which protect the same employees in India and around the clock.
What we need for a quote
- Company details and the number of employees who travel abroad.
- Estimated trips and total travel days per year, and the main destinations.
- Age bands of travelling employees and the type of work done abroad.
- Required medical sum insured and any existing travel or health policy.
- Past travel claims, if any, for the last three years.
Cover, exclusions and premiums depend on the insurer’s policy wording and underwriting. MILES Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd. is an IRDAI-licensed direct broker (Life & General, Reg. No. 954); the insurance is issued by the insurer. Insurance is the subject matter of solicitation.
