Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Miles Insurance Brokers Private Limited (“MILES”, “we”, “us”), an IRDAI-licensed Direct Broker (Life & General), Certificate of Registration No. 954, CIN U66220HR2023PTC112809, collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit milesinsurance.in, contact us, or use our insurance broking services. We process personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them, and the confidentiality requirements of the IRDAI (Insurance Brokers) Regulations.

1. Who is responsible for your data

MILES is the Data Fiduciary for personal data collected through this website and in the course of our services. Registered office: Unit No. 709, 7th Floor, Spaze Boulevard-1, Sohna Road, Sector 47, Gurugram, Haryana 122018. Email: info@milesinsurance.in.

2. What personal data we collect

  • Contact details — name, phone number, email address, city or location, and company name, when you fill in a form, call, email or message us.
  • Insurance information — the type of cover you are interested in, details of the people, property, assets, projects or employees to be insured, existing policies and claims history.
  • KYC and proposal information — where needed to obtain a quote, issue a policy or support a claim: identity and address documents, PAN, GST details, bank details for claim payments, and, for health or life insurance, health information you choose to disclose in a proposal.
  • Claims information — incident details, photographs, invoices, surveyor reports and other documents needed to support a claim.
  • Website data — IP address, device and browser type, pages visited and similar technical information collected through cookies and analytics tools.

Health information is sensitive. We collect it only when it is needed for a health or life insurance proposal or claim, and we share it only with the insurer and its third-party administrator for that purpose.

3. Why we use your data

  • To respond to your enquiry and contact you about the insurance you asked about, by phone, email or WhatsApp where you have agreed to this.
  • To understand your requirements, obtain quotations from insurers and advise you.
  • To place, renew, endorse and service your insurance policies.
  • To assist with claims, including communicating with insurers, surveyors and third-party administrators.
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including IRDAI record-keeping, KYC and anti-money-laundering requirements.
  • To run, secure and improve our website.

We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you submit a form or share information with us, and for legitimate uses permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, such as complying with law. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Who we share it with

  • Insurance companies and their third-party administrators and appointed surveyors, to obtain quotes, issue policies and process claims.
  • Service providers who help us operate — for example website hosting (our website runs on Shopify), email, cloud storage and communication tools — under confidentiality obligations and only for the services they provide to us.
  • Regulators and authorities, including IRDAI, courts and law-enforcement agencies, where required by law.

Some service providers may store data outside India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the data is protected, and we comply with any restrictions notified by the Government of India.

5. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to respond to you and follow up, and in any case no longer than 24 months if you do not become a client. For clients, we keep policy, KYC and claims records for the period required under IRDAI regulations and other applicable laws, after which they are securely deleted.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
  • correct, complete or update your personal data;
  • have your personal data erased where it is no longer needed and we are not legally required to keep it;
  • withdraw your consent at any time — this will not affect processing already carried out, and we may be unable to continue providing services that depend on it;
  • nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity; and
  • raise a grievance with us, and, if not resolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@milesinsurance.in with the subject line “Data request”.

7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use it. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the website works.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, including access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and confidentiality obligations for our staff and service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but if a personal data breach occurs we will notify affected individuals and the Data Protection Board as required by law.

9. Children

Our website is not directed at children. Where insurance involves a minor, for example as a dependant under a family health policy, we process the minor’s data only with the consent of the parent or lawful guardian.

10. Grievance Officer

For any question or complaint about how we handle your personal data, contact our Grievance Officer, Mr. Vinay Jain (Principal Officer), at info@milesinsurance.in or by post at the registered office above. For complaints about our insurance services, see our grievance redressal process.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with its “last updated” date.
