Insurance for HNIs & Family Offices
One Coordinated Programme For Your Family
Wealthy families rarely have too little insurance. More often they have many policies, bought at different times through different channels, with overlapping cover in some places and quiet gaps in others. Insurance for HNIs and family offices brings homes, jewellery, art, high-value cars, health top-ups, personal liability and cyber into a single reviewed programme. MILES maps what you own and how your family lives, then places each cover with a suitable insurer and keeps renewals, values and claims under one point of contact.

What is insurance for HNIs and family offices?
Insurance for HNIs and family offices is a coordinated set of policies that protects a wealthy family’s homes, valuables, vehicles, health, legal liabilities and digital life, managed together rather than as scattered individual covers. The aim is to remove gaps, avoid paying twice for the same risk and make claims simpler.
This programme sits within our specialty and other insurance range because it draws on several specialist products at once, from fine art to cyber.
Why a programme approach matters
In most families we review, policies have been bought over years through banks, car dealers, employers and online platforms. Common problems include:
- Homes insured at old values that would not cover a rebuild today.
- Jewellery covered only inside the house, not when worn at a wedding or kept in a locker.
- Art listed as ordinary contents with no agreed value.
- Several health policies with no clear order of claim, and a gap above the corporate cover.
- No liability cover at all for household staff, guests or social media statements.
A programme fixes these by starting from what you own and how you live, not from what a salesperson offered.
What the programme can include
| Area | Typical cover |
|---|---|
| Homes | Home insurance for structure and contents of each residence, including rented-out and holiday homes |
| Valuables | Jewellery and valuables all risk, with worldwide cover where needed |
| Art | Fine art cover on agreed values with transit and loan extensions |
| Motor | Luxury and imported cars with suitable IDV and add-ons; drivers and chauffeurs noted |
| Health | High sum insured family floaters, super top-ups and international cover options |
| Personal accident and life | Personal accident and term cover aligned with the family’s estate planning |
| Liability | Personal and domestic liability, and D&O for family members on company boards |
| Cyber | Personal cyber insurance for online fraud, identity theft and data misuse |
| Travel and security | Annual multi-trip travel cover and, where relevant, discreet crisis-response cover |
What is not covered
Each policy keeps its own exclusions, and a programme does not remove them. Typical ones include wear and tear, gradual deterioration, intentional acts, pre-existing health conditions during waiting periods, and financial investment losses. Business assets usually need separate commercial cover, which we can arrange in parallel for family-owned companies.
How the programme is reviewed each year
A family’s assets and plans change. Homes are renovated, cars are replaced, art and jewellery are bought, and children move abroad to study. We suggest a short annual review before the main renewals, where we update values, add new assets, remove sold ones and check that each policy still matches how the family lives and travels.
Who it suits
Business-owning families, senior professionals and promoters, NRIs with property in India, family offices managing assets for several generations, and anyone whose household assets, collections or public profile have outgrown standard retail policies.
How MILES helps
- Full review. We read every existing policy and produce a simple gap-and-overlap map for the family.
- Check values. We compare sums insured with rebuild costs, current jewellery and art valuations and car market values.
- Compare insurers. We place business with 16+ insurers and choose the right one for each part of the programme.
- Align renewal dates. Where practical, we bring renewals together so the family office reviews them once a year.
- One contact for claims. Our claims team handles notifications, surveyors and follow-up across all policies.
What we need for a review
- Copies of current policies, including those bought through banks or employers.
- A list of homes with approximate built-up area and use.
- Vehicles with make, model and year.
- A summary of jewellery, art and other valuables, with any recent valuations.
- Family members to be covered and their ages, plus countries you travel to regularly.
Everything you share is treated in confidence and used only to design and place your cover.
Cover, exclusions and premiums depend on the insurer’s policy wording and underwriting. MILES Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd. is an IRDAI-licensed direct broker (Life & General, Reg. No. 954); the insurance is issued by the insurer. Insurance is the subject matter of solicitation.
